Lollipop was simply a fun project that came about after seeing a little kid in a stroller licking a huge lollipop. The little boy was completely sticky, face and fingers colored by the lollipops flavor. The image of the child in such unadulterated enjoyment of this piece of candy brought me back to my childhood recalling how excited I could get over a huge ice cream cone. In this painting, the lollipops are oversized with very short sticks, as the child’s sole focus is on the lollipop and nothing else. The pure joy of the moment is something we seem to lose at one point as we get older.
